Facility Updates
As we grow, and as the Lord provides the resources, we continue to enhance our facilities at Camp Wilderness. We are so thankful to the many volunteers who have given of their time and talents as well as those who have provided financial support for these projects! Humphrey Hall Renovation
Project Started: Fall, 2022
Humphrey Hall interior improvements and updates for 2023!
Improvements include:
- Updated lighting
- Added electrical outlets
- Finished ceilings
- Locking stall doors
and much more…
Tool Shed Enhancements
Project Completed: Spring, 2018
Much needed improvements were made to our camp tool shed in the spring of 2018. The updates included wrapping the exterior walls and roof with metal, and framing the interior walls. A storage closet, work bench, and garage door were also included in the upgrade.
Pavilion & Outdoor Chapel
Project Started: June, 2017
Project Completed: Spring, 2018
Thanks to our friends from First Presbyterian Lake Forest, we were blessed with a beautiful Outdoor Chapel, and a new 20’x30’ Pavilion. In addition to the Outdoor Chapel and Pavilion work, they also installed pavers outside Wilderness Chapel and repainted the multipurpose area of Groves Hall.
Humphrey Hall Upgrades/Enhancements
Project Completed: Spring, 2017
This project included re-roofing Humphrey Hall, which included extending the roof to wrap 3 sides of the building over the sidewalks, and included soffit lighting. On the interior, the plumbing was completely replace and all showers were upgraded.
Caretaker's Residence
Project Started: 7/13/15
Project Completed: August, 2016
This project involved construction of a new Caretaker's Residence on the campground, which includes a new camp office.
New Roof on Groves Hall
Project Completed: Spring 2015
The roof on Groves Hall was replace with a new metal roof in the Spring of 2015.
Wilderness Chapel
Project Started: 11/12/11
Project Completed: 11/10/12
Project Included the Following:
16x32' addition to the existing Wilderness Chapel facility.
The new addition included two restrooms & central heating/cooling.
Electric, water, and sewer services were added.
Updates to the interior of the existing Chapel included insulation, new wallboard, and major upgrades to the electrical system.
Stone veneer was applied to the exterior of the new addition to compliment the existing structures on the campground.
The majority of this project was funded by the Missouri Valley Advent Christian Conference. Remaining funds were raised through the Building on the Rock fundraising campaign.

Kitchen Upgrade in Groves Hall
Project Started: 4/16/11
Project Completed: 6/22/11
Project Included the Following:
Extended kitchen by removing an existing cabin.
Added tile board and trim to walls of entire kitchen.
Reconfigured plumbing for new fixtures.
Installed vinyl flooring throughout kitchen.
Added two new freezers, commercial dishwasher and dish sink, new shelving, and stainless steel fixtures.
Added a tray return.
